Gabriele Botts

Gabriele “Gaby” Botts, 83, of Goshen, died Friday, October 15, 2010, at her home surrounded by family.  She was born in Wuerzburg, Germany, on April 19, 1927, to Josef and Meta (Clemens) Schuehler.  She married Harry E. Botts on June 24, 1948, in Bamberg, Germany.  He preceded her in death on July 5, 2010. She is survived by a daughter, Inge (Greg) Longpre of Stevensville, Michigan; a son, Mark D. (Kim) Botts of Syracuse; grandchildren, Chad (Amanda), Brad (Rachel) and Ryan Botts; great-grandchildren, Abby and Logan Botts; brothers, Wilhelm (Erika) Schuehler of Kornwestheim, Germany, and Dieter (Didi) Schuehler of Kiel, Germany; and sister, Inge (Robert) Newton of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mrs. Botts worked with her husband, Harry, at Middlebury Church Furniture.  She retired from the Goshen Credit Bureau in 2002. She became involved with the Goshen Bexbach Sister City Committee in 1980 and served as chairman from 1988 to 2009.  Gaby’s dedication earned her many friends in Bexbach who stayed in touch with her over the years. Under her leadership more than a thousand Bexbachers visited the Goshen area. Both she and Harry volunteered many hours to the Camp Fire Girls, The Scouts, The Salvation Army and The Red Cross. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 18, at the funeral home A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Koepke officiating.
