Gabriela Andréa Moore, 65, of Goshen, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a two-year battle with cancer. She was born on August 30, 1960, in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Ruben and Elsa (Garcia) Ripoll. In January of 1985, she met the love of her life, Robert Moore, Jr., in the Andes mountains in Argentina where she was a student at World of Life Bible Institute. They quickly fell in love and on July 13, 1985, they were married and remained best friends for 40 years.
Gabriela is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Moore, Jr.; her children, Joshua (Kristina) Moore of Goshen and Andrea (Nate) Fanning of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Julian, Gabriel, Christian, Raphael, and Matthias Moore, and Adrian, Isabel, Natalia, and Anastasia Fanning; a brother, Daniel (Fátima) Ripoll of Uruguay; Robert’s siblings Pam (Mark) Schneider of Goshen, and Rodney (Monica) Moore of Goshen; her mother-in-law, Ann Moore of Elkhart; sister-in-law Glenys Aish of Uruguay; and her lifelong friend, Adriana Marchiori of Uruguay; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ruben Ripoll, and father-in-law, Robert Moore Sr.; a half-brother, Horacio (Jeney) Martinez; and a half-sister Cristina Martinez.
Gabriela was the heart of her home and will always be remembered as “Bela” to her grandkids, who were the light of her life and to whom she devoted the last twelve years of her life. Her family took many trips back to her beloved Uruguay to visit family and friends, and made many lasting memories in Sarasota, FL. She was proficient in five languages and enjoyed traveling to Europe. She loved the United States and was proud to earn citizenship early in her marriage, while always maintaining friendships around the world.
She was active and involved in church—for 30 years in River Oaks Community Church and for the last many years was a member of Sugar Grove Church in Goshen. Her favorite Bible verse, Joshua 1:9, was one she strived to live out: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Beyond family, her passions involved hosting, cooking, gardening, classical music, and tennis. She was deeply devoted to those she cared for and found her greatest joy in caring for others. She will be remembered for the warmth she brought to those around her and the lasting love she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Sugar Grove Church, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, May 1, 2026, also at the church. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
