Frederick "Fred" L. Von Blon, Jr.

February 23, 1947 — August 9, 2025

Frederick “Fred” LeRoy Von Blon, 78, of Millersburg, Indiana, passed away on August 9, 2025, in South Bend, Indiana.

Born on February 23, 1947, in Elkhart, Frederick was the son of the late Frederick "Fritz" LeRoy Von Blon Sr. and Clara Marie Von Blon.

On December 29, 1994 he Married Patricia “Patty” Diane Collier.

Frederick is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Diane Von Blon of Millersburg; three children; and grandchildren, Cynthia (Von Blon) Robbins, Keegan, Emma, Solomon, Daniel, Charlotte, Sophie and Atticus, Gary (Nancy) Royer, Nickolas (Becka), Matthew (Sarah), Andrew (Ali) and Hannah and Kary (Shanda) Royer, Blake (Kara) and Baylee (Jimmy); seven greatgrandchildren; as well as a sister, Carolyn Shetler and two brothers Randy Brubacher and Ted DeAubrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Von Blon Sr. and Clara Marie Von Blon; his brother, Mel Von Blon; and his sisters, Virginia “Ginnie” Wallace, Rebecca Carroll, and Nelda Steele and brother Steven Brubacher.

Frederick was a proud attendee of Jimtown High School. He dedicated his life to serving others, starting with his time in the U.S. Army, and later as an usher at Notre Dame. Frederick retired after a fulfilling, 40-year, career at Johnson Controls.

A man of deep faith, Frederick’s life was a reflection of his love for Jesus. He was a member of Abundant Life Missionary Church and spent countless hours praying for others. His compassionate spirit and kind heart touched everyone he met. He was also a well-known figure in the community, affectionately referred to as the "Yoder-Toter."

Frederick's passions were as diverse as they were heartfelt. He was an avid bowler, a dedicated member of his bowling league, and a loyal Dale Earnhardt fan. He found joy in the simple things, like mowing his lawn, rock tumbler, and spending time with his beloved dogs. Frederick was also a self-proclaimed "foodie" and enjoyed a variety of music, especially Country, Gospel, and Oldies.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2025 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral service also at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Leitch will officiate.
