Frederick "Fred" V. Blosser, 80, of Goshen, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at his residence. He was born July 7, 1941, in Madison Township to Eugene and Mary (Seese) Blosser.
On June 23, 1963, he married Sherrie Hartzler in Goshen.
She survives along with two daughters, Terri Blosser of Goshen, and Angie Chupp of Goshen; a son-in-law Steve Chupp, and two grandsons, Jacob and Michael Chupp; two sisters, Jeanice (Glen) Alexander, and Meriel (Jerry) Ashelman; five brothers, Don, Tim (Mary), Tom, Phil (Terri), and Doug (Claudia).
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stan Blosser.
Fred worked for DJ Construction from 1961 to 2013. He was hired at the age of 20 and worked full-time at DJ for 48 years and part-time for four more years.
He could do every trade of general construction skillfully, but was best known as their crane operator, welder, and iron worker.
Fred set the standard for a DJ day, working hard, and staying as long as it took to get the job done right. He was known for being extremely particular and proud, especially when it came to his Ford Trucks.
In 2009, DJ retired his # 3 truck number, which hangs on a banner in the DJ shop.
Fred was given a lifetime key to DJ for his many years of commitment, dedication, and friendship.
After his retirement, he enjoyed meeting with friends for morning coffee and conversation at McDonald’s (AKA: “The McDonald’s Crew”). He also enjoyed woodworking, mowing, Ford trucks, and John Deere Tractors. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons.
Fred and Sherrie enjoyed attending Sunday services at River Oaks Community Church.
