Fred Litwiller, 72, of Goshen, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care. Fred lived life to the fullest even during his 11 years with multiple myeloma. He was born June 25, 1940 in Hopedale, Illinois, to Oliver and Vera (Slabaugh) Litwiller. He married Faye Newcomer August 19, 1962 in Wadsworth, Ohio. He leaves behind his wife and three children, Vonda (Ref Fransen) Litwiller of Goshen, Laura (Mark Tenekjian) Litwiller of Northampton, Mass., and Matt (Lisa) Litwiller of New Paris; five grandchildren, Ethan, Zefram, Clayton, Jillian and Bridget; and two brothers, John (Joan) and Kenneth (Shirley) Litwiller, both of Minier, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. Fred graduated from Minier High School in 1958, Goshen College in 1962 and later earned a master's degree in counseling from Illinois State. He started his professional life in Hesston, Kansas, as a coach for all sports teams for 3 years. He also worked 3 years as a Health and Safety Manager for King Construction, Hesston. He came to Goshen as a coach and eventually moved into career counseling at Goshen College, retiring in 2000. Following retirement, Fred and Faye lived and worked at Little Eden Camp for two years. Fred cherished his church, his family and his friends. His hobbies included camping, biking, fishing, tennis, golf and woodworking. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013, at College Mennonite Church where an 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013, memorial service will be conducted. Pastors Phil Waite and Rose Widmer will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Jubilee Fund at College Mennonite Church, Little Eden Camp or Maple Leaf Athletic Club. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
