Franklin “Frank” D. Vaughn, 88, went to see Jesus peacefully with family by his side on May 24, 2024, at the Laurels in Goshen.
He was born on March 11, 1936, in Asco, West Virginia, to Greene and Myrtle (Kirby) Vaughn.
On January 22, 1960, he married Anna Louise Akers in Iaeger, West Virginia. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, their four children: Sandra (Michael) Parson of Bristol, Franklin “Lance” Vaughn of Goshen, Patricia (Doyle) LeCroy of Louisiana, and Timothy (Iryna) Vaughn of Middlebury. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Kelly (Rick) Brandenburg; Mike (Amber), Jason (Jennifer), Matthew, and Rebecca Parson; Franklin “Dylan” Vaughn; Kayla (Corey) Green; Anna and Daniel Vaughn; Travis (Illana), Justin, and Tyler Walsh; and Megan (Dustin) Lush. 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Abby, Ben, and Carter Poff; Nathan and Hailey Parson; Samantha and Katie Parson; Emma and Liam Walsh; and Conner Green; and several nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy (Adkins) Vaughn.
Frank was a proud U.S. Marine who served from 1951 to 1957. Following his military service, he returned to Davy, West Virginia, as a coal miner and married Anna. Shortly thereafter, Frank and his family moved to Nebraska to work at a missile base and finally moved to Goshen, where he worked at Western Rubber for 25 years until retirement.
He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, whether in his garden, hunting, fishing, or in his woodshed. He was known to be generous, sharing his garden vegetables or tools in his shed with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a member of Life Point Community Church in Goshen.
His greatest legacy is his unconditional love for his children, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Our hearts are sad, but our separation is only temporary, for one day we will be reunited in the presence of our Lord.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31 from 10 a.m. until the 12, noon, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
