Frances L. Shrock, 95, of Elkhart and formerly of Goshen, passed away Saturday morning, March 12, 2016, at Riverside Village.
She was born July 23, 1920 in Goshen to Dave and Della (Christner) Rathbin. Della passed away later that year and Frances was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Charles and Mabel Christner.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam (Dave) Juday of Elkhart; a son, Rev. Jim (Becky) Shrock of Goshen; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Detwiler and Marjorie Bost; two brothers, Paul Christner and Lewis Rathbin and former husband, Howard Shrock.
A 1938 graduate of Wakarusa High School, Mrs. Shrock attended Warsaw Beauty College. She was a hairdresser in Wakarusa and also worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Kelly and Dr. Bowser and later as a receptionist for Goshen Animal Clinic.
A member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, Frances has been a breast cancer survivor since 1953.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 15, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A Wednesday, March 16, 2016, memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Goshen.
A private family burial will precede the memorial service.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church, Goshen or The Auguste’s Cottage at Riverside Village.
