Frances I. Landis, 86, of Goshen died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Esther’s Hospice House, Elkhart.
She was born May 23, 1938 in Goshen to Harley C. and Romaine (Brumbaugh) Weaver.
Frances graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1956 and went on to attend Goshen College, where she met and married her beloved husband, Ray Landis on October 17, 1959. Together they were just short of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this October.
He survives along with three sons, Steve (Bev) Landis of Goshen, Ron (Tammy) Landis of Elkhart, and Jim (Anne) Landis of Granger; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Brian, Scott, Jenna, Regan, Jeremy, Justine, Julia and Joe; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She grew up attending Holdeman Mennonite Church where she was a member until 1992; later becoming a member of Clinton Frame Church. She was active in her faith teaching Sunday school and serving as an elder for many years.
Fran especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in athletics and showing their registered Holsteins at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
Visitation will be Friday, August 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Clinton Frame Church, 63846 C.R. 35, where a 10 a.m., Saturday memorial service will be conducted. Pastors Sebastiano Rosa and Julie Lehman will officiate.
A private burial will precede the service at Clinton Frame Cemetery.
