Floyd L. Welling

Floyd L. Welling, 90, of Goshen died early Saturday morning, October 29, 2022 at Goshen Hospital.

He was born May 5, 1932 in Greene County, Pennsylvania to Leroy and Cora (Yoders) Welling.

On June 15, 1952 he married Wanda M. Strait in Oakland, Maryland. She died October 8, 2010.

He is survived by six children, George (Tonya) Welling of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda Welling of Warsaw, Joe (Jill) Welling, Dana (David) Derrickson, Gary Welling and Tim (Lisa) Welling, all of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Van Norman of Pennsylvania; along with a host of relatives and friends.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Lester, Marian, Homer, Wilbur and Wayne Welling, Mae Morris, and Cheerful Pettit.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Welling was stationed in Alaska during the Korean conflict. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Grace College, Winona Lake, and his Master’s degree from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne. He used his education as a teacher for Goshen and Middlebury Community Schools for more than 30 years. In retirement he worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart for 10 years.

A member of Grace Community Church, he loved Jesus and all people, especially his family. He was known for being an encouraging, generous, joke telling prayer warrior.

The Welling family would like to thank everyone for the loving and constant care Floyd received these last months.

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2022, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and Saturday, November 5, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at The Vine–Goshen Vineyard Church, 2616 Peddlers Village Rd. Suite 2, Goshen. Pastor Jim Brown will officiate.
