ELKHART | Floyd Dean Harmon, 83, died Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Greenleaf Health Campus.
He was born April 29, 1942 in Savannah, Tennessee to Oscar Edwin & Bessie Blanche (Scott) Harmon.
Floyd met and married his high school sweetheart, Mollie Lou Whitney, in his hometown of Savannah. They were united in marriage November 26, 1964. Shortly after the union, the couple moved to Indiana where they built their life together.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mollie Lou Harmon; two sons, Terry (Pam) Harmon and Chad (Kristin) Harmon; a sister-in-law, Betty Harmon; three grandchildren, Terrah (Wynton) Edwards, Lucas (Maddie) Harmon, & Ashley-Lauren Harmon; and a great-grandson, Damian Edwards.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Deana Michelle and Aaron Ketih; a grandson, Aaron James Harmon; and four siblings, Wallace Harmon, Inez Jackson, Charles Harmon, and his twin brother Loyd Harmon.
Floyd dedicated more than 3o years of his working life to Schult Homes, where he worked in the Mill Room. He took pride in his work.
He appreciated the simple joys in life; from bird-watching and treasure hunting at garage sales, to tinkering with lawnmowers and bicycles - the latter he enjoyed keeping around for his grandchildren to play with. He also had a playful side, well-known for hiding sweet treats and once an entire chocolate pie.
Floyd grew up in the Church of Christ, and was a member of the Goshen Church of Christ for more than 40 years.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Brad Price, preacher at the Goshen Church of Christ, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
