Florence E. Mcdonald

Florence E. McDonald, 92, Goshen, died accidently , on Saturday, February 27, 2010 while eating lunch at Waterford Crossing.  She was born October 13, 1917, in Goshen,  to Arthur and Dora (Cripe) Pletcher.  She married Jack A. McDonald on December 12, 1941, in Elkhart. He died December 14, 1996. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from both Manchester College and Goshen College. She was a member of Zion Community Church, Millersburg, the Elkhart County  and the Indiana State Teachers Associations.      Mrs. McDonald  retired after 38 1/2 years of teaching elementary school in the Clinton Community, Concord and Fairfield school systems. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Ray) Cripe, Goshen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eldon Pletcher,  of Slidell, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” McDonald. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, at the funeral home.  A 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home  with  Rev. Chris Howell, Zion Community Church, Millersburg, officiating. Burial will be in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Community Church Library Fund or Youth Programs or LAMB (Latin American Missions Board).
