Florence Yoder Baumgarten

Florence Yoder Baumgarten passed away on March 18, 2013, in Austin, Texas. She was 96. She was born in a farmhouse outside Wakarusa, in 1916, the second child of Oscar and Hazel (Whisler) Davidhizar. She was preceded in death by husbands Lester O. Yoder and Carl Baumgarten, and five brothers and three sisters. A 1935 graduate of Goshen High School, she lived in Maywood, Illinois, for a few years after marrying Lester, and spent many years in Goshen, followed by a stay in Sebring, Florida with second husband, Carl. She moved to southern Indiana after Carl's death and finally on to Austin, Texas so she could see more of her great grandson. Florence is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Sheryl Yoder of Austin; grandson Kent and his wife Kristina Yoder and their son Kieran Daniel, of Austin; granddaughter Shelley Yoder of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother Richard Davidhizar of Elkhart; and a sister Pauline McGaffey of Fort Myers, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Plymouth United Church of Christ in Goshen, followed by the internment of ashes at Violett Cemetery.
