Fern Yontz, 96, of Goshen, died early Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care. She was born June 26, 1916 in Tofield, Alberta, Canada to Noah and Minnie (Holderbaum) Leinbach. She married Amos D. Yontz, April 8, 1939 in Goshen. He died August 22, 1995. She is survived by a son, Rick (Mary) Yontz and a daughter, Carolyn (Elmer) Yoder, both of Goshen; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Herendeen of Goshen; and two half-brothers, Gerald and Russel Leinbach. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Larry Yontz; three sisters, Catherine Walters, Louida Mishler and Irma Shank; four brothers, Maurice, Lloyd, J.R., and Kenneth; and a grandson, Shaun D. Yontz. A Goshen resident since 1921, Mrs. Yontz was a charter member of Benton Mennonite Church and a long time volunteer at Greencroft. She worked as a seamstress. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013, funeral service will be conducted. Pastors Doug Kaufman and Brenda Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Galilean Children's Home or Benton Mennonite Church.
