Rev. F. Wayne Lawson, 86, of Goshen, died Wednesday evening, March 20, 2013, at North Woods Village, Kokomo, where he had recently moved. He was born February 16, 1927 in Peru to Lamoin and Ruth (Gehman) Lawson. On June 2, 1951 he married Alene Statler. She died May 1, 1990. Mr. Lawson is survived by three daughters, Ginny (Steve) Haney of Mt. Morris, Illinois, Karen (Tracy) Bricker of Kokomo, and Janet (Roger) Winder of Oldsmar, Florida; six grandchildren, Ryan Haney of Goshen, Andrea (John) Kruse of Elkhart, Alison (Eric) Witmer of Indianapolis, Annette and Lisa Bricker, both of Kokomo, and Brianna Winder of Oldsmar, Florida; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Boettjer and a brother, Ross Lawson. A graduate of Peru High School 1945; Manchester College 1949; and Bethany Seminary 1952, he spent his life pastoring in the Church of the Brethren. He served as minister at Bethany COB, New Paris, Andrews COB, Huntington, Markle COB, Markle, Union City COB in Ohio, Monticello COB, Monticello, and pastor of visitation at Goshen City Church of the Brethren until 2011. He was a volunteer Red Coat for many years at Goshen General Hospital. He was also a member of both the Goshen Sunrisers and Milford Kiwanis clubs, serving as president for the Milford club. Pastor Wayne will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind and gentle man. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, funeral at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Pastor Bev Weaver and Pastor Ginny Haney, daughter, will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to Goshen City Church of the Brethren or Camp Mack.
