Evelyn Phares

Evelyn Phares, 90, of Millersburg, died early Thursday afternoon, July 5, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.   She was born in Millersburg on December 21, 1916, to Ray and Elnora (Horner) Long.  She married Dale Grant Pares in Camden, Indiana, on May 18, 1939.  He preceded her on December 15, 2000.   A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Phares worked as a secretary at Fairfield High School retiring in 1982 after many years of service.  A member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, she belonged to the Sunny Seniors.   Mrs. Phares is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Turnock of South Bend and Susan (Robert) Todt of Elkhart; a son, Mark (Laurel) Phares of Osceola; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene (Cal) Miller of Millersburg.   She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Lottie Wilson, and two brothers, Robert and Thomas Long.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 8, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2007, funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Millersburg.  Pastor Burt Pauluhn will officiate.   Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.
