Evelyn Maxine Hostetler Kauffman, 85, of Goshen, passed away late Wednesday evening, July 4, 2012 at IU Health Goshen Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was born September 18, 1926 in Topeka to Early and Bertha (Mishler) Hostetler. She married Frank Kauffman at Emma Mennonite Church June 21, 1947. They had just celebrated their 65th anniversary. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Pat (Danny) Yoder and Maryann (Ron) Shultz, both of Goshen; four grandsons, Rob (Sara) Yoder of Goshen, Sam (Nicole) Shultz of Bryan, Ohio, Matt (Becky) Shultz of Goshen and Derek Shultz of Fort Myers, Florida; and eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ella and Ava Yoder, Abigail, Hannah & Mallory Shultz and Hailey and Joslyn Shultz; and a brother, Walter Hostetler of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Shultz and three brothers, Kenneth, Leland and Wayne Hostetler. She grew up in Emmatown, graduating from Shipshewana in 1944 and attended Goshen College for a year. After graduating from high school she was employed as a bookkeeper at Gospel Book Store and later at Provident Bookstore. She later worked at Farm Bureau Credit Union in various positions, retiring as Vice President of Operations. In retirement she served as FBCU Internal Auditor. A member of Waterford Mennonite Church, she was past president of Elkhart County Extension Homemakers and a member of the Busy Bee Extension Homemakers Club for 50 years. She was a past board member of Church Women United and an officer of Credit Women International. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 7, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012, memorial service will be conducted at Waterford Mennonite Church with Pastor Neil Amstutz officiating. A private burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service or Heifer International.
