Eva M. Emmert, 91, of Syracuse and formerly of Millersburg, died Sunday evening, December 7, 2008, at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born in Millersburg on July 7, 1917, to Shirley and Hazel (Musselman) Rink. She married John J. Emmert on December 31, 1939 in Millersburg. He died June 2, 2006. A member of the Zion Community Church, Mrs. Emmert worked alongside her husband on the farm. She volunteered as a 4H leader in the Home Ec Club, at Goshen General Hospital with the American Red Cross and in the Hospital Pantry, and at the former Carriage Manor (Courtyard Healthcare) in Goshen. She is survived by a son, Dennis (Lynn) Emmert of Syracuse; two daughters, Diane (Roger) Symensma and Bonnie (Elwin) Craft, both of Syracuse; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a sister, Bernice Worthman; and a brother, Paul Rink. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Harlan Steffen of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
