Eugene M. Martin

Eugene M. Martin, 74, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the home of his daughter-in-law.  He had been ill for three months.  He was born in Goshen, on January 26, 1936 to the late Willis and Nellie (Culp) Martin.  On May 11, 1957 he married Rosetta Riegsecker, in Middlebury.  She survives.  A dairy farmer, Mr. Martin was a member of the Griner Mennonite Church, Middlebury, and Gideons International.  He enjoyed mission trips, and he also volunteered at World Missionary Press and Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry. He is survived by two daughters, Rosalyn (Lavern) Cross, Middlebury, Rhonda (Smith) Noel, Terry Hill, Pennsylvania; one son, Jeff (Bonnie) Martin, Hicksville, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Martin-Gay, Indiana; two sisters, Vivian Benner,  Matie (David) Lehman, both of Harrisonburg, Virginia; one brother, Truman (Lois) Martin, Nappanee; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.   He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Martin.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Griner Mennonite Church, Middlebury, and from 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, at Griner Mennonite Church.  A 10 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Griner Mennonite Church.  Pastor Paul Tinkle, retired pastor at West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, Pastor John Yoder, Pastor Robert Riegsecker, and Pastor Harley Troyer, all of Griner Mennonite will officiate. Burial will be in Griner Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be made out to World Missionary Press and Gideons International.
