Eugene Roy Fowler, 81, of Goshen, died late Monday afternoon, January 22, 2007, at Goshen General Hospital where he had been a patient since January 18. He was born on January 13, 1926, in Goshen, to Charles W. and Hazel (Holmes) Fowler. He married Catherine Pietro on September 24, 1949 in Goshen. She died July 15, 2006. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Fowler, retired from NIPSCO in 1983 where he had worked as a lineman for 25 years and as a dispatch operator for seven years. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific. Mr. Fowler was a member of the New Paris First Brethren Church, the American Legion, Post #30, the Goshen VFW Post 985, the Goshen DAV Chapter 15, the Goshen Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by two daughters, Pam Bowman and Vicki (Gregg) Miller, and a son, Robert (June) Fowler, all of Goshen. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Barbara Dispennett of Bangor, Michigan and Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; a grandson, Adam Fowler in 1980; five sisters, Lucille McConnell, Lillian Patton, Edith Ponco, Grace Fowler and Carlene Cripe; two brothers, Clarence and Charles Fowler; and a half-brother, Richard Wyman. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, January 26, 2007. Rev. Ted Showengerdt of the New Paris First Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Paris First Brethren Church
