Eudean E. Broni, 69, of New Paris, died Thursday evening, January 18, 2007, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. She was born September 23, 1937, in Goshen, Indiana, to Ezra and Vivian (Johns) Schlabach. She married Emil Broni on May 8 1965, in Benton. He survives. A charter member of the Benton Mennonite Church, Mrs. Broni had worked as a secretary at Bethany Christian Schools, and in the business offices of both Goshen College and Greencroft, where she retired several years ago. A member of the first graduating class at Bethany Christian High School, Mrs. Broni was a member of the Jackson Township EMS Fire Department Auxiliary where she did bookkeeping. She sang in the Goshen Community Chorale and with Evergreen Singers. She enjoyed traveling , painting, singing, composing and arranging music, gardening and hosting exchange students. She is survived by her husband, Emil; a son, James (Chris) Broni of Columbia City; a daughter, Margie (Kenton) Miller of New Paris; and two grandchildren. Two sisters, Ruth (Paul) Shaum and Arleta (Phil) Kilmer, both of Goshen; and four brothers, J. Richard Schlabach, Dorvin (Ruth) Schlabach and Theron (Sara) Schlabach, all of Goshen and Dale (Viv) Schlabach of Middlebury also survive. She is also remembered by the Cressman family in New Hamburg, Ontario. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 22, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2007, funeral service will be held at the Benton Mennonite Church. Pastors Doug Kaufman and Brenda Meyer of the Benton Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in Benton Lutheran Cemetery, Benton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Township EMS.
