Esther Bernice Yoder, Greencroft Goshen, passed through death into life on December 12, 2018, at the age of 90. She was born on April 14, 1928 to Sanford N. Mishler and Millie (Nusbaum) Mishler in Shipshewana, Indiana. She married Galen L. Yoder on April 17, 1948.
She is survived by her husband, Galen and five of their six children: Retha (Franklin) Baer, Harrisonburg, Virginia; Rosalie Yoder, Hampton, Virginia; Ronald (Jane) Yoder, Wolcottville, Indiana; Roberta (Terry) Bontrager, Central Asia; and Rodney (Verna) Yoder, West LaFayette; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and her two sisters, Eva Miller, Manistee, Michigan and Eleanor (Bruce) Troyer, Howe, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her son, Russell, at age 19.
Esther and Galen were dairy farmers. Esther was a great gardener, quilter and lover of jigsaw puzzles. She was also devoted to transporting children to Sunday School and helping them with crafts. She, and husband Galen, were actively involved in music and leadership positions in several churches: Maple Grove Mennonite, Topeka; Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse; Topeka Mennonite Church, and Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. They were also active members and leaders with Gideons International.
Visitation will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2 to 5 pm. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at 9 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2018.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at Waterford Mennonite Church at 11:00 a.m.
