Esther I. Peyton, 91, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, March 19, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital in the emergency room. She was born in Norway, New York, on October 8, 1916, to Arthur W. and Lutie Rachel (Gould) Barker.  She married Charles e. Thomas on October 18, 1939 in Norway, New York.  He died February 4, 1949.  She then married Albert W. Peyton, Jr., on December 18, 1965 in Belleville, New York.  He preceded her in death also. Mrs. Peyton moved to Goshen in 2001, coming from Lorraine, New York.  A homemaker, she had worked as a nurses’ aid at the Herkimer Memorial Hospital, Borden’s in New Port and Munger’s Department Store in Herkimer, all in New York.  Mrs. Peyton enjoyed sewing, knitting, ceramics, cooking and baking, especially pies. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (John S.) Flansburg of Goshen; a son, Dale C. (Virginia) Thomas of Cleveland, Georgia; a step-daughter-in-law, Jane Peyton of Pulaski, New York; a step-son, Gary Peyton of Arizona; and a step-daughter, Becky (George) Spaziani of Black River, New York.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her husbands; a sister, Betty Clausen and a grandson, Jeffrey T. Candela. Friends may call 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor James Schrock of the First Baptist Church, Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association or First Baptist Church, Goshen.
