Esther Julia Hoover Nader Schrock, 87, of Goshen, passed away at her home Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She had been in failing health.
She was born April 7, 1929 in Harrison Township to Warren Dennis and Nettie (Martin) Hoover.
On July 7, 1957 she married Esam William Nader in Lebanon. She later married Roscoe Schrock on Dec. 25, 1989 in Goshen.
She is survived by a daughter, Najwa (Mark) Wimmer of Syracuse; a son, Bill (Laura Jozwiak) Nader of Goshen; four granddaughters, Amber Silvia Dawn (David) Kincaid, Kaija Shantel (Trent) Kauffman, Leah Marie Wimmer and Julia Dominique Nader; and first husband, Esam William Nader, Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roscoe Schrock; three sisters, Carol, Florence and Martha May Hoover; and four brothers, Ernest, Arthur, Martin and Joe Hoover.
She was a very supportive grandmother and had a special love for her two cats, Pumpkin and Ariana. She was an avid rose gardener and found great joy in generously sharing her roses with many people.
Mrs. Schrock was a member of College Mennonite Church and a faithful member of “K” group that met each Wednesday.
Mrs. Schrock was the first member of her family to attend college. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Goshen College in 1951 , her Master of Arts degree in math education from Bowling Green University in 1962, and did post-graduate work at Notre Dame University. She was a teacher for 39 years, teaching geometry and trigonometry at Penn-Harris-Madison for the last 25 years of her teaching career.
Friends may call Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2016.
Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorial contributions may be given to Elkhart County Humane Society.
