Erma Ruth (Zook) Zimmerman, 91, died Sunday morning, February 7, 2010, at Greencroft Nursing Center, Goshen. She was born on April 3, 1918, in East Lynne, Missouri to the late Edward K. and Nancy Edith (Hershberger) Zook. On June 26, 1949, she married Lester Jay Zimmerman in Hesston, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1994. A homemaker, Mrs. Zook also earned her R.N. certification in Newton, Kansas. She worked at both Elkhart General and Goshen General Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. She was a member of the College Mennonite Church, Goshen. She is survived by two daughters, Judy, (Robert) Herr, Nairobi, Kenya, Mary Jane Zimmerman, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, John Lowell Zimmerman, Goshen, Ronald Jay (Elisabeth) Zimmerman, Clinton, South Carolina; two sisters, Mary (Walter) Erb, Luella Bitikofer, both of Hesston, Kansas; four brothers, Allen Zook, Marvin (Dorothy) Zook, both of Hesston, Kansas, Alvin (Evelyn) Zook, Garden City, Missouri, John (Rosemary) Zook, Goshen; and four grandchildren, Mark and Daniel Herr, Jacob and Rebecca Zimmerman. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 12, at the College Mennonite Koininia Room. An 11 a.m., memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13, at the College Mennonite Church. Pastor’s Klaudia Smucker and Betty Hochstetler, of the College Mennonite Church, will be officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Goshen College or Mennonite Central Committee.
