Erie Schrock, 83, of New Paris, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born September 1, 1929, in Goshen, to Menno and Elizabeth (Lambright) Schrock. He was a resident of New Paris for 62 years. Erie married the love of his life, L. Pauline (Herschberger), April 1, 1950, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Omer (Treva) of New Paris, Linda (Mark) Martin, of Nappanee, Donna (Alan) Jones of Shipshewana, John (Judy), of New Paris, Elsie (Dale) Swartzentruber, of Nappanee; a daughter-in-law, Barb Schrock, of Goshen; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Miller of Macon, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter, Dale, and Rita; his parents; two brothers, Alvin and Melvin; and a sister, Rosa Bontrager. Erie was a lifelong farmer and well known poultry and egg producer, and an active member of the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation, where the body will lay in state, at the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, County Road 38, Millersburg, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 6; and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the church, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairplay Wilderness Camp School, or Gospel Express Ministries.
