Enos Huber Shirk, 74, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was born May 20, 1937 in East Earl, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Mary (Huber) Shirk. He married Erma Jeanne Mellinger Jan. 1, 1960 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Juanita (Monroe) Weber-Shirk of Ithaca, New York, Jeanne (William) Sahawneh of Hoover, Alabama, and Jacalyn Shirk Lee of Luray, Virginia; a son, Steven (Cheryl) Hochstetler Shirk of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Phares (Arlene) Shirk of Narvon, Pennsylvania and Rufus (Rebecca) Shirk and Harvey (JoAnn) Shirk, both of East Earl, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Anna Shirk of East Earl, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a son, John Jacob Shirk in 1979 and a brother Norman Shirk in 2011. A Goshen resident since June 2011, Mr. Shirk was self-employed as a building contractor in Thornton, Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Locally he was attending East Goshen Mennonite Church. Friends may call 5 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, Goshen. An 11:00 a.m., memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012, at East Goshen Mennonite Church with Pastors Merle Hostetler and Steve Slagel officiating. A memorial service and private burial will be at a later date at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Thornton, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
