She was born April 8, 1920 in Wolford, North Dakota to Noah and Priscilla (Witmer) Bacher.
She married Perry Hochstetler on June 1, 1941 in Wolford, North Dakota. He died in May 1995.
She is survived by children, Merlin (Elsie) Hochstetler, Mishawaka, Wendell (Beverly) Hochstetler, Middlebury, Marilyn Ross, Stuarts Draft, Virginia, Welma (Ervin Stutzman) Mast, Goshen, Linda (Jay) Shelly, Florence, Montana, and Phyllis (Dean) Gingerich, Missoula, Montana; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, two grandchildren, Durwin Hochstetler and Julie Hochstetler Albright and a son-in-law, Page Ross.
Emma graduated from Wolford High School. After spending most of her life in North Dakota and Montana, she moved to Orrville, Ohio where she lived for 13 years before moving to Goshen in 2015. She was a very loving wife and mother, a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She had many interests including gardening, sewing, reading and quilting. She had a great faith and trust in God, which she freely shared with those around her. She loved teaching both children and adult Sunday School classes.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. celebration of life service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain Enid Schloneger will officiate.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Corvallis, Montana.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Window, Goshen Hospice and Home Care, or a charity of choice.
