Elsie E. Sutter, 90, of Goshen, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare. She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, February 18, 1920, to Sem K. and Suie (Blough) Eash.  She married Clayton Sutter on October 8, 1943 in Springs, Pennsylvania.  He survives. Also surviving are a son, Sem (John Easton) Sutter of Chicago; daughters, Miriam (Stephen) Lapp of West Liberty, Ohio, Beth Sutter and Ruth Sutter, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mable (Owen) Lehman of Hollsopple, Pennsylvania, Florence (Guy) Livengood of Grantsville, Maryland, and Esther Yoder of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Yoder. A Goshen resident since 1963, Mrs. Sutter retired as 4th grade teacher at Chamberlain Elementary School in 1980.  She served as co-administrator of Home for the Aged, Eureka, Illinois from 1946 to 1956.  A member of East Goshen Mennonite Church, she had served on the board of directors of Walnut Hill and was a member of the National Education Association.  She volunteered for Goshen Hospice and Greencroft. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday,  July 1, 2010, at East Goshen Mennonite Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. An 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010, will be held at East Goshen Mennonite Church with Pastor Steve Slagel and Pastor Mary Grove officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peace and Justice Support Network of Mennonite Church USA or Walnut Hill Early Childhood Center.
