Elsie Irene Shuder

Elsie Irene Shuder, 90, of Syracuse, died late Saturday evening, February 3, 2007, at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been since August 2006.   She was born in Elkhart County on June 21, 1916, to Guy Harold and Ruth (Hartsough) Nicolai.  She married Milton H. Shuder at the Solomon Creek Church in Syracuse on September 30, 1939.  He died March 15, 1999.   A homemaker, Mrs. Shuder was a member of the Solomon Creek United Methodist Church and a member of the Hex Rural Extension Homemakers for more than 5o years.   She is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. (William) Duguid of Ridgecrest, California and a son, Roger (Vickie) Shuder of Syracuse; five grandchildren;six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Shirley) Nicolai of Fort Wayne, Indiana.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; a brother, Kenneth Nicolai and a sister, Ruby Godshalks.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, 2007.  Rev. Carldean Merrifield of the Solomon Creek United Methodist Church will officiate.   Burial will be in Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Solomon Creek United Methodist Church of to Gideon’s International.
