Elsie L. Hochstetler

Elsie L. Hochstetler, 81, of Mishawaka died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at her home.

She was born July 31, 1943 in Peru, Miami County, to Emanuel and Mattie (Schlabach) Hochstedler.

Survivors include her husband, Merlin P. Hochstetler; son, Derek (Julie) Hochstetler; daughter-in-law, Nicole Hochstetler; grandchildren, Alexandra Hochstetler, Marisa (Kirk) Eby, Ethan, Isaiah and Jeremiah Hochstetler; and siblings, John, Wayne, Verl and Lewis Hochstedler, and Grace Graber.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Albright; a son, Durwin Hochstetler; and siblings, Leon and Glen Hochstedler, Alta Stalter and Leona Yoder.

Elsie was a loving homemaker, she enjoyed working as a teacher’s aide and in the family butcher shop. She was a “wiz” at wrapping meat, very fast and efficient. She was very involved with her church families. She had a positive spirit she shared with others.

She was one to always keep her hands busy, whether it was knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, reading a book, doing crossword puzzles, or playing card games with her family.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
