Eloise May Brooks Garman, 90, of Goshen, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to William B. and Viola Emerson Brooks.
She moved to Goshen in 1937 and graduated from Goshen High School in 1942. She graduated from Monticello College, St. Louis, in 1944 and the University of Michigan in 1946.
On May 7, 1960 she married Ted L. Garman in Goshen.
He survives along with three daughters, Sandy (Dwight) Dean of Dallas, Oregon, Sue Ellen (Steve) Rohrer of Tblisi, Republic of Georgia and Patricia (Arlyn) Reinhard of Goshen; three grandchildren, Erika (Ben) Watson of Nappanee, Rocky A. Reinhard of New Haven and Joseph Rohrer of Albuquerque, New Mexico and seven great-grandchildren, Schyler, Bradley and Paige Waldenville and Sierra, Keegan, Koen and Chase Reinhard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Brooks.
Eloise retired as an executive secretary from Goshen Rubber in 1987. She was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ since 1938 and had served as the financial secretary for many years. She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.
Eloise loved her family and friends and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and keeping journals and diaries of her travels, vacations and everyday life. She had a keen interest in history, especially Colonial American and Medieval British.
Friends may call Friday, November 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. until noon at Plymouth United Church of Christ where a 1 p.m. funeral service will be conducted.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
