Elma Eichorn Stauffer

Elma Eichorn Stauffer, 83, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, October 26, 2006, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been sin January 2003. She was born near Goshen on February 3, 1923, to Daniel E. and Magdalena (Bontrager) Yoder.  She married Edwin Eichorn on March 16, 1947.  He died June 2, 1960.  On July 2, 1989 she married Glenn E. Stauffer.  He died June 15, 1993.   Mrs. Stauffer, a resident of Greencroft since 1985, retired in 1979 after 19 years as a cook for the Centerville, Michigan public school.  She had also worked alongside her first husband on the dairy farm.   A member of the Waterford Mennonite Church, and a former member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, she was an avid reader and loved to garden.  She had also cooked for summer camps at Camp Amigo, Little Eden and Camp Wakeshma, all in Michigan and for Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp in Colorado.   She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Roy Bergey) Eichorn of Goshen; two sons, Galen (Carol) Eichorn and Lewis (Linda) Eichorn, both of Sturgis, Michigan; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are five sisters, Cathrine Miller of Oakland, Maryland, Maggie (Gerald) Yoder of Goshen, Indiana, Ruby Wise of Archbold, Ohio, and Mary (Alvin) Bontrager and Lucille Blue, both of Topeka, Indiana.   She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Eichorn and Glenn Stauffer; two brothers, John and Orva Yoder; and two sisters, Ida Yoder and Alta Yoder.   Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 29 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, Indiana.   A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, October 30, at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Findley, Michigan.   An 11:30 a.m. memorial service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006, at the Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Pastors Neil Amstutz and Tina Schlabach will officiate.   Memorial contributrions may be designated to Waterford Mennonite Church or Mennonite Mission Network.
