Goshen – Ellen Miller Riegsecker, 89, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born May 28, 1928 in Elkhart County to Allen and Inah (Stutzman) Miller. After her mother died when Ellen was five weeks old, she was raised by her uncle and aunt Sam and Nora Yoder.
On May 28, 1950 she married Duane E. Riegsecker at Middlebury Church of the Brethren.
He survives along with daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Kelly, Bristol; son, Randall (Janet Kunze) Riegsecker, Crossville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Travis Riegsecker, Chad (Ivana) Riegsecker, Caroline (Joshua) Richey, and Caitlin (Michael) Copple; and three great-grandchildren, Luke Richey, Blake Richey and Porter Copple.
She was preceded in death by her parents; uncle and aunt Sam and Nora Yoder; and siblings, Virgil Miller, Herman Miller, Emory Miller, Ordo Yoder, Eva Yoder, Raymond Yoder, and Leona Yoder Brandeberry.
A lifelong Goshen resident, Ellen was a homemaker and member of the Goshen City Church of the Brethren. After graduating from Goshen High School in 1946, she attended Goshen College. She volunteered for 32 years at the Goshen Hospital gift shop, was an avid reader and enjoyed collectibles. She was a 51-year charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.
Friends may call Wed., Oct. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Thurs., Oct. 12, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
