Elizabeth Yoder, 94, of Goshen, passed away Thursday evening, February 25, 2016 at IU Health Goshen Hospital where she had been five days.
She was born February 15, 1922 in Dodge City, Kansas to Enos and Lydia (Miller) Bontrager.
On June 13, 1942 she married Trennis Yoder in Middlebury. He died Nov. 14, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Lloyd) Miller of Goshen and Beth (Beau) Washington of Palisade, Colorado; two sons, Don (Em) Yoder of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Jim (Mary Kay) Yoder of Cashiers, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Derek Yoder, Dee Dee Yoder, Ryan Miller and Dustin George-Miller; five great-grandchildren, Brynn Yoder, Norah and Levi George-Miller and Greta and Lucas Miller; two sisters, Fannie Miller and Rosa (Weir) Stone, both of Elkhart; a brother, Leroy (Joyce) Bontrager of Goshen and a sister-in-law, Donna Bontrager.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Wayne Bontrager in 2015.
A Goshen resident since 1986, Mrs. Yoder was Chief Financial Officer and co-owner with her husband of T. Yoder Inc. for 44 years in Fort Wayne.
She was a member of College Mennonite Church where she volunteered in the church office. Elizabeth shared baked goods with others and was known for her handwritten notes. She stayed in touch with her family and was active on social media keeping the family connected. She was well travelled and her world remained big through Google. She loved the view from her patio and found beauty in each day and season. She was a longtime season ticket holder for the Performing Arts Series at Goshen College.
Friends may call Monday, February 29, 2016 from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
Memorial contributions may be given to College Mennonite Church or Goshen College Music Department.
