Elizabeth J. Byler

July 31, 1911 — June 21, 2010

Elizabeth J. Byler, 98, of Goshen, died early Monday morning, June 21, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare where she had been a resident the last seven years. She was born July 31, 1911 in Uniontown, Ohio, to John and Katie (Troyer) Stutzman.  She married Clarence T. Byler May 13, 1934 in King Church, Hartville.  He preceded her in January 1981. A homemaker, and Goshen resident since 1983, Mrs. Byler was a member of Mount Joy Conservative Mennonite Church and a former member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Hartville.  She took great pleasure in quilting and flower gardening. She is survived by twin daughters, Loena Miller of Elkhart and Leora Lehman of Goshen and daughter, Niva Miller, Plain City, Ohio; a son, Rudy (Deborah Byler of Lawton, Michigan; 27 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathryn Shelt of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Verbie Miller and Esther Hochstetler; granddaughter, Ann Miller Sweigart; great-grandson, Allen Hochstetler; six sisters, Maude Kauffman, Anna Bontrager, Emma Yoder, Amanda Bontrager, Ida Miller and Alma Miller; and four brothers, Joe, Dave, Johnny, and Elmer Stutzman. Friends may call 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Hartville, Ohio. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church.  Pastor Vernon Hostetler of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Hartville, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Maple Grove Mennonite Church.
