Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Markham

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Markham, 94, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, October 27, 2011, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born October 28, 1916, in Union Township, Elkhart County to Isaac M. and Ruth M. (Mishler) Clayton. She married Earl Oliver Markham August 8, 1936 in Goshen. He died September 1, 1968. She is survived by two sons, Larry Markham and Scott (Dee) Markham, both of Goshen; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara E. Newberry, Union, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy M. Slagle and two brothers, Glenwood and John Clayton. A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Markham graduated from New Paris High School in 1934. She worked in sales at Robertson's for 13 years and Big Wheel for five years. A member of the VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed traveling. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, October 30, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2011, funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Bendes, Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Burial will follow in New Paris Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to New Paris Cemetery.
