Elbert F. Kemper, 88, of Goshen died Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Restoracy of Goshen after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born January 4, 1937 in Notomine, West Virginia to Clarence and Glenna (Bunting) Kemper.
On July 15, 1957 he married Iris Ann Akers. She died December 28, 2023.
He is survived by a son, Albert (Paige) Kemper of Goshen; daughter, Barbara (Bruce) Given of Midlothian, Texas; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Brycie (Linda) Kemper of Osceola.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenna Kemper; sister, Eula Mae Cole; brother, Eugene Kemper; and step-son, John Ferrell.
Mr. Kemper was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked for Western Rubber for 38 years and retired from Barger Plastics after 17 years of service.
Elbert enjoyed being active, he coached American League Baseball at Roger’s Park, and pitched horseshoes at the Elkhart County Fair. He enjoyed all sports but especially baseball and following the Chicago Cubs.
He was very devoted to his family especially participating in the care of his daughter, Glenna.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 28 funeral service will be held. Rev. Terry Tyler will officiate.
Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen with military honors.
