Elaine M. Strauser, 61, of Goshen, died Friday evening, October 29, 2010, at her daughter’s home.  She had been ill for six and a half years. She was born in Sturgis, Michigan, on August 9, 1949, to the late Emil Hochstetler and Fannie (Bontrager) Hochstetler of Goshen. She is survived by a daughter, Teri (Scott) McCrindle of Goshen; fiance, Alan Sweet of Goshen; a sister, Carolyn (Dale) Neumeyer of Reedsville, Wisconsin; and a brother, Gordon (Darlene) Hochstetler of Kendallville. She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Cheryl Johnson; and an infant brother, Darrell Hochstetler. A lifelong Goshen resident, Elaine was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church.  She worked as a waitress for 19 years at Hilltop Restaurant, Middlebury.  She attended Bethany Christian High School and enjoyed knitting, participating in cancer walks with her daughter, and Notre Dame and Colts football. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11:00 a.m. memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.  Pastor Norm Reimer of Nappanee Missionary Church and Pastor John Troyer, neighbor and friend, will officiate. A private family burial will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
