Edward Stellingwerf, 88, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, May 2, 2006, at his home. He was born June 15, 1917, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Frank and Helen (Kluetenberg) Stellingwerf. On May 16, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan, he married Geraldine Hasper. She died August 10, 1999. Mr. Stellingwerf retired from Goshen Rubber. He was a member of the Greene Road Christian Reformed Church and the Goshen VFW. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the US Army in the Pacific Theater. He is survived by three sons, Frank (Sharon) Stellingwerf of Pointe Woods, Michigan, John (Diane) Stellingwerf of Goshen and James (Sarah Schooley-Stellingwerf) Stellingwerf, of Greenville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Marie Elzinga and Stella Stellingwerf; and a brother, Dowa Stellingwerf. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 4, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2006, service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. John Wanders of the Greene Road Christian Reformed Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to the Greene Road Christian Reformed Church.
