Edward Warren Read, 71, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Powers Healthcare, Hobart, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 9, 1954 in Monticello, Indiana to Raymond and Betty (Musal) Read.

He is survived by his three children, Aaron (Laura) Read, Tori Read, and Annette (Lynn) Marshall; 16 grandchildren, Emily (Nathan) Watts, Kaelyn Read, Nathan (Sara) Read, Kerstin Read, Preston (Tristyn) Silcox, Blake (Heather) Silcox, Maddison (Robert) Morgan, Briana Marshall, James Marshall, Shelden Rolston, Chrissa Marshall, Sara Marshall, Jaxon Rolston, CheyAnn Rolston, Gabriel Marshall, Benjamin Marshall; and six great-grandchildren, Leonardo Wells, Magnolia Otte, Evalie Morgan, Bailey Silcox, Beau Silcox, and Willow Read. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Steven (Vivian) Read, Julia (Pete) Santo, Richard (Lisa) Read, Kenneth (Rhonda) Read, and former wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Whitaker.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Betty Read; his stepmother, Mary Read; previous wife, Jacquelyn Read; his brother, Robert Read; and his infant sister, Neva Annette Read.

A proud veteran, Edward served his country in both the Air Force and the National Guard. He attended Hyles-Anderson College and was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He attended New Life Christian Reformed Church in Highland, Indiana.

Edward spent many years as a district manager over multiple Burger King restaurants in Indiana.  He was also a sales representative for Ferrellgas before retiring.  After retirement, he enjoyed transporting people in the Amish community. He made many new friends and always told everyone how much he enjoyed it.

Edward was the beloved patriarch of his family, whom he loved fiercely. He also adored his dog, Sasha.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 12 until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Whitehead Cemetery, New Paris.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Yoder-Culp Funeral Home to help offset funeral costs.
