Edward O. Hepner

Edward O. Hepner, 72, of Goshen died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home following a five year battle with cancer.

He was born May 2, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to John H. and E. Mildred (Stebbins) Hepner.

On April 3, 1971 he married Linda S. Phebus in Goshen.

She survives along with four daughters, Leslie (Jeff) Tinsley of Goshen, Joan (Tim) Focht of Queens Creek, Arizona, Christy Hepner of Atenas, Costa Rica, and Natalie (Jason) Miller of Goshen; two sons, Carlton (Eva) Hepner of Tampa, Florida, and Nathaniel (Lindsey) Hepner of New Paris; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Catharine (Charles) Slack of Lexington, Kentucky; and a brother, John (Kathleen) Hepner, Jr. of Farmersville, Ohio.

Edward was a 1963 graduate of Lanier High School in Ohio.  Following graduation he served two years in the Peace Corps in India.  He returned home and earned degrees from Manchester College in 1969 and United Theological Seminary in 1972.

He worked at Forest River for 32 years, retiring in 2015.

Always active in his church communities, Ed was a previous member of Believer’s Fellowship and Zion Chapel, and was currently attending Journey Worship Center, Goshen.

Ed was a leader with the 4-H Poultry Club and coached little league baseball and softball in Millersburg.  He enjoyed time with family, bird watching, and his most current hobby, raising worms.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 14, 2017.  Pastors Vic Hildebrand and Julian Bontrager will officiate.

Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.
