Edna Ruth Chupp, 88, of Goshen, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger.
She was born January 21, 1933 in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Peter and Ida Belle (Hostetler) Eigsti.
On January 27, 1957, she married Mervin David Chupp. He survives, along a son, Brent (Lauri) Chupp of Goshen; four grandchildren and one sister, Nellie Hostetler of Hesston Kansas.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynette Hunt; two brothers, Arthur Eigsti and Clarence Eigsti; three sisters, Bertha Hostetler, Mary Zoss, and Rose Ulrich; one infant sister, Beulah Eigsti; and two half-sisters, Esther Ulrich and Lillian Ulrich.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. Chupp was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and kept her family as her highest priority. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper for area businesses and as a switchboard operator for Goshen Hospital. Along with her husband, she was part owner/operator of Goshen Motor Inn for several years.
Edna’s favorite pastimes included crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and playing table games as well as motorcycle excursions with Mervin. She was a constant support to her husband in his business ventures and volunteer activities.
Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen, and on Saturday, January 15 at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, in Goshen, 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Pastors Neil Amstutz and Deron Bergstresser will officiate .
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery in the spring.
