Edith E. Nafziger, 84, of Goshen, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at her home. She was born January 1, 1927, to the late Fred and Ella (Augsburger) Swartzendruber in Delavan, Illinois. She married J. Marvin Nafziger on August 31, 1946 in Hopedale, Illinois. He died April 29, 2008. Surviving are three daughters, Myra J. Oswald and Diana K. (John) Hershberger both of Goshen, and Susan E. (Steve) Bartel of Visalia, California; a son, John M. (Margo) Nafziger of Goshen; ten grandchildren; and a brother, John (Kathryn) Swartzendruber of Elkhart. She was preceded by a sister, Esther Glick, and a brother, Fred Swartzendruber. A Goshen resident since 1948 Mrs. Nafziger worked at Goshen College for 26 years as a secretary for the Physical Education Department. She was a member of College Mennonite Church. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, February 19, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 3:30 pm, Sunday, February 20, 2011, memorial service will be conducted at College Mennonite Church with Pastors Rose Widmer and June A. Yoder officiating. A private family burial will take place at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen, prior to the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to College Mennonite Church.
