Earl Gene Wogoman, 78,m of Goshen, died Thursday evening, March 13, 2008, at his home after a three month fight with cancer. He was born in Goshen on December 20, 1929, to Owen and Pearl (Truex) Wogoman. He married Carol J. Kaser on August 27, 1949, in St. Joseph, Michigan. She survives. A 1948 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Wogoman partnered with best friend, Dan Logan to open Logan & Wogoman Garage. In the 1950’s and 60’s he drove semi tanker truck for Abshire Oil Company and long distance semi truck for NIBCO, and worked as garage foreman at INE Truck Leasing. In the late 60’s he became part owner of Bearcat Corporation in Goshen. He retired in November 1999. Mr. Wogoman was an exceptional handyman. He enjoyed watching sports but his greatest passion in his later years was tennis which he played through December 2007. He is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Steve (Delores Troyer) Wogoman of Elkhart and Tom (Kelly) Wogoman of Warsaw; two daughters, Deborah (James) Morgan of Goshen and Wendy (Spud) Davis of St. Petersburg, Florida; four grandchildren, a step-grandson; one great-granddaughter; three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Wogoman of Millersburg. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Merl. Mr. Wogoman suffered his entire life from Restless Legs Syndrome, therefore he has donated his body to Harvard School of Medicine for research of the syndrome. The body will be cremated. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 17, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home A 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008 memorial service will be held at the funeral home. Rev. Brian Koorey of the Warsaw Community Church will officiate. Committal service will be at Violett Cemetery, Goshen with Rev. John VonLackum of the Plymouth United Church of Christ will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Restless Legs Syndrome, Goshen Hospital Care at Home Hospice or charity of donor’s choice.
