E. Melissa Taylor, 96, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, September 26, 2008, at Greencroft Healthcare after a short illness. She was born in Corunna, Indiana, on February 21, 1912 to Lincoln and Essie (Cocanower) Ober. She married Russell Taylor on August 31, 1930, in Corunna. He preceded her in February 1992. An Elkhart resident most of her life, Mrs. Taylor worked at CTS Corporation, retiring in 1975 in quality control. She was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Elkhart City Church of the Brethren (now Creekside Church of the Brethren), the CTS Quarter Century Club and sang in Evergreen Singers. She enjoyed music, sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening and playing games. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Francis) Tucker of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Libby; three sisters, Gertrude Bradley, Velma Ober and Ruth Lung; and four brothers, Joseph, Kendall, Forrest and Paul Ober. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 30 at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008, memorial service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pam Kling, Pastoral Assistant of First United Methodist Church will officiate. A private, family committal service will be held prior to the memorial service at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer Project International, Global Food Crisis of Church World Service, Elkhart.
