Dwight E. Grieser, 75, of Goshen died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 at Goshen Hospital. A long time resident of Goshen, he was born July 10, 1943, in Fort Wayne to Cletus Grieser and Luella (Stucky) Rupp.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Carol S. Hartzler. Also surviving are two children, Stephanie (Scott) Braming, Valparaiso and Matthew (Anna) Grieser, New Castle; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, William, Ryan and Zach Grieser and Madeline and Lily Braming; two sisters, Rosalyn (Roger) Ledyard, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Lynette Slaubaugh, Harrisonburg, Virginia and three brothers, Merlin (Mary) Grieser, Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Curtis (Connie) Grieser, Pueblo, Colorado and Don (Sena) Grieser, Pine Hill, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Grieser.
Mr. Grieser began his teaching career in the Concord Community Schools and later was a Fairfield Community School administrator. More recently, he worked as an independent business consultant.
He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association, a charter volunteer for Ryan’s Place and served as Treasurer for the Chicago Mennonite Learning Center Board. He also served on the school board of the Goshen Community Schools. He was a big IU fan, enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, and welcomed many as an usher at church.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 17 , from 2 to 4 p.m . and 5 to 7 p.m . in the Gathering Room at College Mennonite Church, where a Monday memorial service will be held at 11 a.m . Pastor Ron Kennel will officiate.
Memorials may be given to Ryan’s Place, Chicago Mennonite Learning Center or College Mennonite Encircling Fund. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
