Duane Lamar Howard, 59, of Lansing, Michigan, died early Thursday morning, November 10, 2005, at his home following a long illness. He was born September 29, 1946, in Goshen, to Russell E. and Ann (Culp) Howard. Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam and the Army National Guard for 16 months. He was an avid ham radio operator. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Piercy of Purvis, Mississippi and Mary Ann (Matt) Convery of Lansing, Michigan, a son, Duane L. Howard, Jr. of Columbia, Mississippi, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Pat (Harold) Cripe, Ellen "Candy" Reville, both of Goshen, and Joyce Guffey of Elkhart, and three brothers, Rex (Nila) Howard, Sr. of Goshen, Tim (Dorothy) Hill of Laporte, Indiana, and V. LeRoy (Rayna) Howard of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russel Everett Howard and Tom Hill. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Christian Fellowship of Goshen. Pastor Craig Garber will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
