Douglas L. Stump 60, of Shipshewana died Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2012 at the Elkhart Hospice House. He was born Dec. 6, 1952 in Goshen, to James "Jack" and Myrlene (Pillow) Stump. On Oct. 9, 2010 he married Dawn (Weldy) Christner Schacht, in Wolcottville. She survives. Also surviving is his father "Jack"; four sons, Chad (Dawn) , Corey, James, and Steven Stump, all of Goshen; seven step-children; six grandchildren; many foster children; and four brothers, Mike (Gwen) Stump, of Elkhart, Jim (Liz) Stump, of Wolcottville, Dallas Stump, of North Carolina, and Joe (Diana) Stump, of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a sister, Margo Leatherman. Mr. Stump was a lifelong area resident. He had recently retired from Veada Industries as a woodshop supervisor. He served in the Army reserves six years, and was a member of the Goshen Moose for many years. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday Jan. 4, 2013 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10:00 a.m. Saturday Jan. 5, 2013 funeral will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Overpeck of Bremen Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will follow at New Paris cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
