Douglas Lee Sheets, 60, of Cromwell, died early Thursday morning, February 11, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital. He had been ill for one year. He was born in Elkhart on June 20, 1949 to Max D. Sheets and Phyllis J. Weaver Sheets, his mother preceded him in death. Mr. Sheets was a 1968 graduate of Wakarusa High School; he belonged to Jefferson Brethren Church and the United Steelworkers. He was a member of the U.S. Army for two years serving in Vietnam. Mr. Sheets worked 17 years for NIPSCO reading meters. He is survived by his father and step-mother Doris Sheets; three sons, Christopher Lee (Teri) Sheets, Craig Michael Sheets, both of Goshen, Chadwick Alan Sheets, Elkhart; three brothers, Larry D. (Barbara) Sheets, Syracuse, Bradley (Carla) Sheets, Goshen, Steven Sheets, Benton; and six grandchildren, Camden, Cole, Alexandra, Casey, Haley, and Cade. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and from 9-10 a.m., Monday, February 15 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m., funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Monday, February 15, 2010. Pastor Ron Spyker of the Jefferson Brethren Church will officiate the service. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
