Douglas V. Guilliam, 70, of Ligonier, died Friday morning, August 22, 2014, at Avalon Village where he had been a resident since 2010. He was born January 4, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia, to Roger and Helen (Sheley) Guilliam. On December 4, 1971 he married Rebecca Charlton at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church in Goshen. She died January 3, 1985. He is survived by his mother, Helen Kornblum; a daughter, Susie (Dallas) Carroll, of Bristol; and a son, Rodney Guilliam, of Goshen; three grandchildren; and a step-brother, Mark (Helen) Kornblum, of St. Louis, Missouri. A long time area resident, Mr. Guilliam was a Goshen High School graduate and U.S. army veteran. He was active in the 4-H Lamb Club and Goshen American Legion. He also served on the Jefferson Township advisory board, fire department and EMS, and Rock Run cemetery board. He worked at NIPSCO for 32 years and was a member at Jefferson Community Church. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. Friday funeral service will be held. Pastor John Billow will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Rock Run cemetery, Goshen Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
